Wadi Nimrin

Wadi Nimrin is most likely the riverbed of the biblical Waters of Nimrin, mentioned by the prophet Isaiah in his Lament for Moab (Isaiah 15:6) "Ah, the waters of Nimrin are a waste land, the grass dried up, the turf all withered, nothing green anymore." Nearby is the recently excavated Tell Nimrin, know in the Bible as Beth-nimrah. Beth-nimrah was a fortified city built by the tribe of Gad, and it appears in the Book of Numbers (32:35) in a list of other cities built by this tribe. Recent excavations have revealed a 6th century Byzantine church and several mosaics that are now displayed in the Archeological Museum in Salt.
